Arguably better than some other breakfast haunts on the island. It's a fun place to go, and they also have wine and beer if you need more of that...

A lively and talkative staff serves diner staples like chili, cheeseburgers, chowder, and fries; all with a surprisingly rustic feel, considering the location. A-OK, is just about right.

Worst service on the island. Dirty setting and about the only good thing was watching the takeoffs and landings.

Great breakfast, and really felt like a diner. My daughters couldn't reconcile ordering just one pancake until the things came out. Dinner plate sized concoctions that were great ($4). My wife got the egg sandwich on English muffin and it was good too. Next time I'll get either an omelet (which looked to be two inches tall, stuffed with meat) or the eggs Benedict. Recommend getting there earlier for a choice of seating, say before 9 AM. By the time we left at 10, there were 10+ people waiting for seating.

The setting should make this a great find - but instead the service is confused and food average. There is no way to tell who is next for a seat so it was chaos when I arrived. The food took forever to arrive and part of my meal arrived after the check. Had potential but in the end it was not worth going out of the way for this place.

Flew into BI for breakfast this morning. I had heard a lot of good about this place. Sorry to report it wasn't worth the trip. Service was horrible. A corn muffin, two eggs and toast shouldn't take an hour. The airport is a nice stop, but don't bother with Bethany's.

The pancakes are huge! I'd say it's the best breakfast on the Island.

Good solid breakfast. It took a long time to get our eggs but overall very good. They could certainly upgrade the coffee . Solid

If you are a pilot in the Northeast and have never heard of Bethany's on Block Island, please smack yourself on the head and check for pulse. This is the epitome of $100 dollar hamburger (well $200 with today's fuel price) joint. Pilots and locals alike have been flocking to this on airport diner that's reminds you of exactly what an airport diner should look like. No you can't order Egg Florentine with a glass of Mimosa, but you can order fried eggs with bacon and a cup of Joe. And yes the chowder is unreal. Almost everyone knows everyone else and if you are the newbie, be prepared to have a few rounds of witty banter with the old timers. As always the staff makes you feel at home. Do call ahead, especially during the summer as the place becomes a zoo.

I don't know what it is about airport diners, but when you find one, you've got to give it a try. Stopped in for breakfast this past Sunday and was so happy we did. Waited about 10 mins for a table, and the staff were friendly. Our omelettes were big, tasty and stuffed with goodness. Next time I am on BI, I'll be trying lunch at Bethany's.

Small airport within an even smaller diner...total throwback to the TV show "Wings." It totally goes with the quaint vibe of BI and the food is really good. I've eaten here while staying in BI and usual bike ride to and from breakfast to work off those calories. Most of the seating is at the counter so its great to chat with the staff and other diners.

We had some simple stuff, the grilled cheese and Ma's Famous Chowda and both were delicious, you can sit on the patio with a perfect view of the airfield. Great diner!

One of my favorite spots on the island. Adorable decor, but sit outside when the weather is nice and hopefully you'll see a plane or two in action. Food is great. Delicious omelets, great chowder, yummy chili, haven't had a bad meal here yet. Check it out!

Eh, what can I say? Block Island is my favorite place, but I've only eaten at this diner once. Like most novelty places, the food disappoints. My breakfast burrito special (I was so excited for black beans and avocado) was made with sliced Velveeta cheese (a foodie's nightmare!), and my boyfriend's crab cakes benedict was made with imitation crab(another foodie nightmare!). Imitation crab on an island surrounded by beautiful ocean.... fishermen everywhere.... imitation crab. The telltale white flesh with bright red accents that doesn't flake or even really taste like crab. WTH? For that, I would like to give this place 1 star, BUT the home fries were tolerable, people were nice, and the location is great. My 11 year old enjoyed his bacon/egg/cheese on English muffin, my 15 year old didn't complain about his breakfast burrito (beef) but also didn't finish it which is highly unusual for him, and my 17 year old was pretty grossed out by his soggy bacon in his burrito and the Velveeta cheese as well. That said, again, the location is great. You can sit outside and watch the 2 to 8 seater planes land and take off right in front of you, and the noise no bother. VERY COOL, especially for kids, just don't expect to be wowed by quality food.

Standard diner fare, pancakes stand out as particularly good. Pretty fun to watch the airplanes take off and land. As other reviewers mentioned, water tastes a little funny, service was kinda rude.

Flew in for a couple of hours to get some relief from the heat and some exercise walking around the island. Stopped at Bethany's for some chowder and some grilled corn bread....yum! How many stars can you give an airport diner? Decent food, decent price, friendly people, what's not to like?

Eggs Benedict to die for. Great staff and great service

I agree with the comment by "Shawn A." below, if you are not used to fly on small planes (thus the jittery), do not fill yourself up! otherwise, this is more of a hole in the wall kind of dive place. Decor: back a few decades, and they have very old poster/signs on the wall, kinda interesting... very casual place. Food: -- EXCELLENT clam chowder, homemade all the way, with lots of clam meat in the soup, the cup ($4) is a regular bowl size, and a bowl $5.5 is a HUGE bowl enough for 2 people to share. -- below avg std crab cake burger $9... the crab cake is probably homemade here, but it's very floppy and falls apart as a burger patty.. the taste is avg... Otherwise, this is an excellent place to come and have a small lunch if you happen to fly-in or fly-out by plane on BI.

One of the best fly-in meals around. The atmosphere of the airport, the welcoming attitude, the generous and delicious portions... It all adds up to a great "$100 hamburger." Just make sure you call ahead to check that they're open!

I would fly back just for the steak quesadilla, it was fantastic! The staff was very friendly.

If the script called for a diner in the movie: Block Island....... the set has already been constructed. Sure it's small, busy, noisy, a bit disorganized, but come on - get over it. Be happy!

FLYING ON AN EMPTY STOMACH MAKES IT EASIER NOT TO PUKE, PART 4 (But it sure hurts a lot more if you do) Before departing Block Island, I wanted to buy my buddy and his instructor lunch at the finest airport diner I have ever seen. Bethany's was an adorable little restaurant reveling in airfare cheese as a decorating theme. The food was all above average diner fare (which is exactly what I was looking for), and the service was that perfect blend of attentiveness and not giving a crap that you need at a place like this. So thank you Bethany, for hitting the spot perfectly on a completely random day of flying.

We enjoyed a lovely breakfast watching the airplanes. Scrambled eggs, home fries with onion and a wheat toast with butter. We were disappointed with the fruit salad, $6.5 for a bowl of canned fruit. Prices are affordable and service is good.

This is a REAL fly in diner , everything in here says old school diner , great place to fly into for breakfast , lunch or just a quick coffee . friendly service , good food , free refills , no landing fee if you stay at the airport but its only 10 bucks if you want to go to the town . for the pilots out there its a unicom , with a short runway , short field landing , short field take off but once you have been here once you will be back . big thumbs up to all at bethanys
